Photos on SD card loose effects when opened on mackbook air

I took photos on my Lumix camera with various effects (for example monochrome, soft focus, high dynamic etc.) they appear fine on camera but when I put my SD card into my Mackbook air and click on the photo to open it, the effects are removed, like the monochrome photo is now normal? The effects show on the thumbnail of the pictures but when you open it the effect isn't there anymore? Anyone know why? Is there a specific app i need or something?
