Why does charger only last a few weeks?

are you saying you have a new apple branded charger and it died after a few weeks?

Reach out to Apple and see about a replacement..

I've had dozens of Apple devices & chargers over the last decade, I have never had one die on me.

I do tend to use my Anker chargers more often though.
