iphone does not provide sound on receipt of iMessage

after a recent update from Apple (2 versions ago) "sound" notification does not function. All sounds are ON and iPhone not in "quiet mode"...... I have followed all Apple instructions and no sound.

iMessage notification sound not working I receive iMessage with no sounds even though I have sound on to iMessage. I reset all settings and the switch is not muted. Is there a way to get the iMessage to have sound when receiving iMessage? I did reset my iPhone then restored but still not working.

No sound alerts for incoming messages I am getting no audible alerts or vibration for incoming messages on my iphone. I have checked everything in settings so there is no obvious reason.
