how can i compress a video to email it. i took it with my iPad and have loaded it onto my new mac mini M1

Instead of compressing it, why don’t you just use AirDrop? That would remove the need to compress the video while retaining the quality of the video.

But if you still want to compress it, there are free apps on the AppStore such as VideoCompress or iCompress+ that you could use. However, there might be ads there so do check first. Paid apps on AppStore are also available.
