Can you merge 2 apple ids?

Ok……my boyfriend had an iPhone 8 he was signed on to and used to use. I ended up switching my phone service to his phone. I signed in to my Apple ID. Is it possible they merged somehow?

iPhone 8, iOS 15

No you cannot merge Apple ID's. What you can do is Setting up family sharing between the 2 ID's

If you found his data on the phone, it is because he didn't properly prepare the phone before giving the phone to you. Ask. him to do the steps in the article below to make it 'your' phone.
