Registered number expiry

Hi. I changed my US SIM to a Japan SIM to be able to have access with my phone there. I received a message from my iPhone that my registered US phone number is going to expire and the number will no be associated with the phone. Will I lose the US number permanently? Or will I get it back when I change the US SIM back when I come back to the states?

Error “This number is registered to your Apple Account but is not associated with this iPhone” a month ago i changed my sim and now it says “this number is registered to your apple account but is not associated with this phone” and says my number will expire in 4 days and will switch to the temporary one i had. is there any way i can stop this from happening as the number that is “expiring” is the number i have used for years so im not sure why it is.
