I no longer use Adobe programs but my mac keeps trying load them

I have a pretty old mac mini, that froze up and is now backed up with an external hard drive. This already makes my computer sluggish. That said, I used to use Adobe "Illustrator" and "InDesign". I now use "Infinity" and have changed most INDD files to IDML so Infinity will open them. However, there are some that haven't been changed and when I forget and click on them, Adobe tries to load. I have tried throwing out all Adobe apps but it doesn't help. Whenever this occurs (and I swear it sometimes just happens randomly without me clicking on these old files - The other day I turned my computer on and the Illustrator app magically reappeared on my desktop out of nowhere...) it slows my computer down tremendously. An hour later a message will pop up thats trying to log me in to my Creative Cloud account. Thats how slow its making my computer. It takes a whole hour for the message to even pop up. I want to get rid of Adobe once and for all. How can I do this?

PS: I'm not super tech savvy so I will need directions for dumb people haha.

Some of the Adobe apps may need to be removed by running an Adobe uninstaller app instead of just dragging & dropping the app into the Trash. Check the Adobe website for instructions for properly uninstalling your specific versions of those Adobe apps. If you cannot find the information on the Adobe website, then you may need to contact Adobe support for assistance, but usually the instructions are available on their website.

Sometimes you may need to reinstall the apps in order to uninstall them as the uninstaller app may already be included in an Adobe folder or within the app bundle for each piece of Adobe software.

Sounds like you need to first uninstall one of your other Adobe apps before you can uninstall this particular app.

I'm not a macOS software expert plus I don't know which version of Illustrator and InDesign you had installed. Here are two links I found on the Adobe website:

Uninstalling Creative Cloud Apps:

Manually removing the Adobe files:

As far as the performance issues, I would be concerned about other third party software issues (anti-virus apps, cleaning apps, or third party security software), or a failing drive, or an issue with an external device. Of course if the Adobe products are only partially removed, then perhaps they could cause a problem as well. You can run DriveDx to check the health of the drive(s) and posting the complete text report using the "Additional Text" icon which looks like a piece of paper. To look for possible software issues run EtreCheck and give it "Full Disk Access". Post the report using the "Additional Text" icon which looks like a piece of paper.
