Why isn't the saltillo character supported in Apple Unicode on iPhones?

The saltillo character is used by several indigenous language orthographies to represent the glottal stop.

The character does not display properly on all iPhones. Spaces are inserted on each side of the character.

What should look like this: chokmaꞌshki

Will instead look like this on an iPhone: chokma ꞌ shki

Is there any way to fix this?

iPhone 12, iOS 15

Do you really see space characters there? I think the problem may be that many fonts make this character too wide. Noto Sans probably does it right. Unfortunately on an iPhone there are very few places where you can choose the font, such as Pages.

In any case, Apple has to fix this, so let them know via the feedback channel.
