I don't want my Apple TV subscription to automatically renew

I have received an announcement that my Apple TV subscription will automatically renew. I supposedly have the option to cancel said prescription. But here's my problem.


I didn't know I had an Apple TV account. So I have no idea how to cancel it. No account #. No account user name. No account password. And, frankly, your pathway to cancellation should be a direct link not a maze.


So just how do I proceed?

The steps in the support document you posted from, should take you straight to the subscription so you can cancel it.


There is no account number, your account user name is your Apple ID, ie the email you received the notice at.

The Password is the password for said Apple ID. You should already know these things.


The TV+ subscription cannot magically be activated. You need to follow a few steps and confirm activation. It does not happen without you actually being involved.


This is a user to user forum, we are just users like yourself, not Apple support, it is not our pathway and frankly it is pretty straight forward if you follow the steps in the support document you posted from. You just need to click a link. There is no maze whatsoever. If you want to cancel a subscription from Apple

Let’s get something straight first. Subscriptions to Apple TV+ do not just start by themselves. The user has to initiate the subscription, agree to the terms, and submit a form of payment for the subscription to begin.


If the user takes advantage of one of Apple’s free trial subscriptions, after agreeing to the terms and payment, to Apple TV+ that subscription will automatically renew when the trial ends unless the user cancels before the renewal.


So perhaps you or someone in your family forgot that a subscription was started (free or otherwise).


In either event, follow the link provided to cancel the subscription.
