When will Apple books stability issue be fixed?
I continue to have trouble with Books crashing on my iPad Pro since updating to iOS 15. Every single update since then and I have the same problem. Everything Recommended by Apple first level support has been done; resets, complete factory restore, delete and reinstall the application you name it I’ve done it.
I finally got a hold of second level support at Apple and they said there is a known issue with books and voiceover. My suspicion is that they hosed the books app when they overhauled the multitasking in iOS 15. I would turn multitasking off to check my suspicion but unfortunately you cannot no longer turn multitasking off.
Apple support would not confirm my suspicion but at least they acknowledged that there is a problem. I’m currently at iOS 15.5 and I still have my PDFs disappearing and reappearing of the Apple Books crashing in the middle of trying to go through a book basically all the problems that have been described by numerous other people. Hopefully iOS 16 will fix the issues.
To get around the problem what I’m doing is transferring my PDFs over to the Kindle application. You can do so without uploading it to Amazon and just keep it on your tablet. So far the Kindle application has no problems whatsoever is completely stable the exact opposite of the Apple Books app.
So I can get by although it’s a pain in the butt to have to go through that extra step and all my books and pdf files about 2000+ are under Apple Books. To transfer them all over to Kindle would be a pain.
It just seems every time Apple does an update something else breaks. Usually I wait a while And see if other people had trouble before I do an update, unfortunately this time I didn’t wait and I’m paying for it.
