Touch id doesn't response occasionally on Macbook Pro M1 I've been using the new MacBook Pro M1 for a week now, but unfortunately, the touch ID is not consistently responding to unlock my device. It occasionally works, but most of the time there is no response. I have tried setting up different fingerprints, but even then, the touch ID doesn't seem to work. It appears to be non-functional. Touch ID on Macbook Pro M2 not working - Possible Fix I Have tried everything to get my MacBook Pro M2 touch ID to work. What I did discover is that if I use the bottom of my palm (where my thumb is) and let it touch the area beside the trackpad, then touch the ID with my index finger - "L" shape. It works every time. Plus this worked for my wife's MacBook as well! Will not work if I just use my index finger.

M1 2021 touch id delay or not responding Using MacBook Pro 14", M1, 2021, 16GB RAM, macOS 12.5 Monterey 21G72. Since upgrading to the latest macOS. I have been having delay or failure to log-in using the Touch ID especially after a couple of hours of in activity. I have to touch the touch ID button several times or even press the button before it works but more ofter it fails at least twice daily. I have to log-in using the password and the touch ID will function for few hours before it fails again. Anyone facing similar issues or have a solution in mind?

I know it rebooted during the process, but try another.

I just this morning brought wife's 2020 MBP with touch up to 12.5 and it has no problems.

I did reboot multiple times, disabled and enabled Touch ID. deleted existing fingerprints, wouldn’t take new ones etc. was working perfectly before the update.

Ok sorry …. Now it works as before. Maybe the update wasn’t fully processed.
