From reading online, I know I am not alone. Never dropped my MacBook Pro or any water damage, it just stopped working well and starting the screen flickering. It varied as I would fold the lip up at certain angles. It would stop at one angle, but start again when I would open it wider. This is def a fluxgate problem.
Maybe it is and maybe it is not. It really does not matter since Apple has never acknowledged the problem with the 2017 model and after five years is unlikely to do so now since most of the Apple free repair programs only cover a product between 3 or 4 years (max has been 5 years and is rare these days). Your laptop is five years old.
Have Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider examine the laptop to provide you with a repair estimate.
