I have the Focusrite 18i8 audio interface and occasionally it totally disconnects the audio interface. I've looked at the Sound in the Preferences and it's no longer listed there. On other occasion, I can see that the audio interface is still listed in the Sound --> Output/Input but there is no audio coming out. I've already use a new cable. Any other suggestions on how to troubleshoot this issue is much appreciated.
Have you restarted? A simple restart can often bring back things that have disappeared.
Are you on the latest version of whatever OS you're running? If eligible, you should be on Monterey 12.5 but at least the latest of whatever version you top out at.

I already tried restarting multiple times. I'm on 12.4..in the process of installing 12.5 now.
Just got 12.5 installed and the same issue.
I think there is something wrong with the M1 Max. I plug this Focusrite 18i8 to a MBP M1 and it works fine, no issues at all while this M1 Max keeps dropping the connection and/or sound.
