Cannot move application to trash on my Mac

I have an application I want to trash. I cannot because it says app is open. It's not. I have restarted my computer but that doesn't work. It still says app is open. Please help.

Please restart the computer in Safe Mode ( Safe Mode ) and then attempt to uninstall Gramerly. Before you do that though, please check with Gramerly's developers to see if they have any instructions for uninstalling their app. If they do, please follow those instructions!

What Application?

You can not remove native macOS Applications and some third-party Applications require an uninstaller.

If it is a third-party Application that did not come with an uninstaller, go to the Apple on the menu bar, select Force Quit, highlight the Application, select Force Quit and then see if you can move the Application to the Trash and empty the Trash.
