How can I get rid of this feature? The flashlight is coming on all the time even without consciously tapping. (I think the phone is so sensitive that it “feels” my keyboard taps and misinterprets them)
is there a way to turn this feature off?

triple tap.. you mean the Back Tap functionality?
Go to Settings > Accessibility > Touch > Back Tap
Here you will see items, Double Tap and Triple Tap
Go inside whichever ones you want to change and either select a new function or select None

Exactly what I meant, Chris! Thank you so much! I haven’t had the flashlight come on without my express command for two hours - that’s a first since I got this model. So many things I absolutely hate about the iPhone 13. I was much happier with my 7, and I’m thinking of pulling the 7 out of storage and just use it, maybe sell the 13. Many things are too complicated and require more steps to get to or they don’t work at all, and some features I really liked were done away with altogether. Sorry for the vent, one obstacle down. Thanx again!

was your iPhone 7 running iOS 15?
I wouldn't think there would be all that much difference other than Face ID vs Touch ID..
Note that when iOS 16 comes out in the fall, the iPhone 7 will no longer be getting updates
