Flags in Mail

I have a 2020 MacBook Air running macOS Monterey 12.5, on which I use the Mail app.

I have recently archived some messages to "On My Mac" folders from a webmail based service that I accessed via the Mail app. Some of these messages were flagged.

I have deleted all the flags from all the messages in all my email accounts, but the Mail app still shows 2 flagged messages in the "Flagged" folder at the top. When I open this folder, it is empty.

I have tried Mailbox > Rebuild. There are no flagged emails on the webmail system.

I have no idea how to get rid of this "2" notification next to the Flagged folder. Can anyone help?

FYI - had this issue myself back in Big Sur and took days to find the solution.
