Why does the Apple TV app freeze up in the middle of shows

While watching AppleTV+ on Mac laptop, shows freeze up—it’s not the wifi, it’s AppleTV+—don’t have the problem with Netflix, HBO etc

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 10.12

Hey flameyD,

It appears that you’re having a problem with the Apple TV app. When watching a TV show, it keeps freezing, and we're glad to provide assistance.

How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support -- Please restart your Mac in safe mode and test the issue. Whether or not the issue happens or not, restart normally to exit safe mode. Please be aware that it takes a bit longer to enter safe mode:

Safe mode prevents your Mac from loading certain software as it starts up, including login items, system extensions not required by macOS, and fonts not installed by macOS. It also does a basic check of your startup disk, similar to using First Aid in Disk Utility. And it deletes some system caches, including font caches and the kernel cache, which are automatically created again as needed.

If the issue didn’t happen while in safe mode, test the issue again after a normal restart.

Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac - Apple Support -- After testing in safe mode, please create a new Administrator account. Once the account has been created, log out of your usual account and log into the new one. You’ll need to sign in with your Apple ID to use the Apple TV app. Please test the issue once everything’s been set up.

Once you’re finished testing, you can delete the new account if you wish: Delete a user or group on Mac - Apple Support

Please let us know the results when you're able for both safe mode and new user.

All the best.
