My iMac name was changed by an authorized Apple Repair when he wiped my drive to avoid fraud.

My iMac name was changed and now Apple ID doesn't work. Also the "near me" isn't correct it is always wrong because it defaults to Silicon Valley

iMac 21.5″, macOS 12.4

Hello victoria234,

Thanks for asking the Apple Support Communities for help. We'd like to clarify some information about what's happening with your iMac and Apple ID.

Are you not able to sign in with your Apple ID on your iMac?

If so, can you sign in successfully at the Apple ID web page?

Are you getting an error message when wanting to sign in with your Apple ID?

Does it mention your Apple ID being locked for security or disabled in the iTunes and App Stores?

If so, see this article: If your Apple ID is locked or disabled - Apple Support

What is happening regarding the iMac name change?

For the "near me" showing Silicon Valley, which app are you using when this happens?

Are you using a VPN? If so, the location shown might reflect the network you're connected to, and not your physical location.

Thank you!
