iCloud Private Relay - incompatible system settings

I just got my M1 MacBook Air back from having the screen repaired, and now the Private Relay no longer works.

Is there a way I can go through an error log, or some way of diagnosing this issue? It's not clear which system settings may be preventing iCloud Private Relay from functioning

I removed all VPN applications, and even deleted my firewall that I was using. Please help

When iCloud Private Relay is enabled, the Safari browser on your Mac, in theory, will use specific Apple DNS servers to act on any web page requests.

By "not working" are you saying that when you enabled the relay, you are no longer able to access web pages using a URL? If that is true, can you access them with the actual site web server's IP addresses?

One troubleshooting step would be to run the Terminal app, and then, enter the following at the command prompt:

  • nslookup mask.icloud.com

If properly enabled, the result of that command should be: NXDOMAIN
