iPad Pro Captures Trackpad Gestures

How do I stop my iPad Pro from capturing my iMac's trackpad gestures? I often need to use them in conjunction and the trackpad will often start controlling the iPad Pro's cursor instead of the iMac's. Thanks!

I have a late, 2015 iMac, running macOS Monterey 12.4. My iPad Pro is running ios 15.5.
