If you want your migration to be successful, please follow the steps in Setup Assistant and Migration Assistant. This is the ONLY method that is 100% reliable, it is overall the quickest method and it is by-far the most simple method.

In all honesty, in my mind,the best option is to used a USB HDD or SSD. Upload your files from the old Mac to the USB drive then download the files from the USB drive to the new Mac. The USB drive can then be used for ongoing backups of the new Mac.
