Is your smart TV AirPlay 2 Capable? See this link about AirPlay --> Use AirPlay to stream video or mirror the screen of your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

If your TV is not AirPlay 2 Capable, you can connect your iPad to your TV via HDMI cable, with either a USB C or Lightning connector, depending on which iPad Model you own.
