filesharing and privileges problem in macOS Monterey
Hello, I have seen some posts about this that are rather old, and wanted to ask why the more recent macOS versions have problems with files/folders transferred from one mac to a second using filesharing. e.g. our group has some site-license and freeware app installers as well as document folders that are stored on a common-use mac. If such items are copied to a second mac via filesharing, there's typically a warning that they can't be opened due to insufficient privileges. Of course, one can go to the "Get Info" option to manually change the privileges but that's a bit time-consuming. For inexperienced and casual users, this is too much hassle. This was not a problem in older versions of the Mac operating system. I wonder if there's a workaround, or maybe we should just drop filesharing option and use box.com or dropbox.com?
Of course, if both macs have the same username, then this doesn't occur.
thanks!
