I have 3 custom ringtones that I have dropped on my iPhone 13 Pro, all 3 tones show up in the ringtone section of sounds and are usable. If I go into the text tone section only 2 of the 3 show up. I also dropped 2 ringtones onto my wife's iPhone 13 mini and 2 tones appear in ringtone but only 1 is in text tone.
Why is this, are you restricted to the amount of custom text tones?
Has anyone else noticed this? Is there a way round this or do I have 2 faulty iPhones?
Just for testing purposes, trim it down to 25 seconds, then see if it shows up as a text tone.
How long are they? I believe ring tones are limited to 30 seconds.
Is the 32 second file the one that's giving you problems?

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. Are all three ringtones songs, custom sounds, or both? Do all of them play as ringtones? If they are songs, do they show in the Music app on your iPhone? Get back to us with this info, and we can go from there.

Are all of the files of the same size? And are the same files failing on both devices or does it change? Additionally, do they play as songs still as opposed to ringtones?

Hi on my wife's phone (13 mini) one is 457kb and the other is 331kb. They both play outside of the iPhone. Just weird that both appear in ringtone list (settings, sounds, ringtone) but only one appears in text tone list (settings, sounds, text tone) My phone (13 pro) does exactly the same except I have 3 tones in ringtones and only 2 show in text tone. Size varies from 266kb to 807kb. All 3 in my ringtone area play if selected and all play if I use Quick Look outside of the phone.
I will test it, but looks like that might be it. Of the 3 tones I have times are 14s, 28s and 31s. All 3 are in ringtones but the 31s is not in text tone. Seems strange that the text tone section can't handle a slightly longer tone that ringtone accepts. You learn something new every day!! Thank you all for your input.
Hi sorry for the delay in answering. All 3 tones are custom made by me in GarageBand and shared from there onto my iMac and then dragged and dropped into my phone when connected in finder
Hi they range from 14 seconds to 32 seconds, GarageBand warns you if they are too long to convert to a ringtone
Yes 32 second one appears in ringtone but not text tone!!
