How can I turn on or off "Do not disturb" with an iPhone short cut

When I go to the quick pull down (from the upper right side of my screen to access Focus, I get so many options but I can’t turn on or off my do not disturb. I basically have to go to settings, but what’s the point of having a short cut if it always takes me to settings? I just want the basic do not disturb.

Good News!! Today I went to turn off my Do Not Disturb and the options disappeared!!!! 😃
Looks like I can finally hit just one button to turn Do Not Disturb on or off.
Thank you Apple.

If you delete all the other focus options (or, if I recall, turn them off in Settings>Focus), the Control Center button should revert to only DND.

Hello Doggymama76,

The focus "Do not disturb" is an option which you cannot delete, unlike your own focus modes. If it does appear in the control centre but you cannot turn it on, turn off your iPhone and then turn it on again and see if the problem was solved. If not, then you may want to Update your iPhone. If that did not help, try to perform a "Force Restart" on your iPhone. Note that this is only necessary if your iPhone won't work or respond properly. ---> Force restart iPhone – Apple Support (UK)

Contact Apple Support if you are still having issues after the inital force restart. ---> https://apple.com/contact

Let me rephrase my problem.

when I go into Focus through the control center (pull down from the top right of my screen), I only get three options in Do Not Disturb: for 1 hour, till this evening (or till the morning), or till I leave this location. I just want to turn it on, but it takes me to settings. I have no other way to just turn on Do Not Disturb without going into settings. What is the point of having a short cut if I can’t turn on and off in the quick pull down?

This is a known limitation, not only for Do Not Disturb but also for WiFi and Bluetooth. The only way to change these settings "permanently" until you reverse your choice manually is via Settings.

Where Bluetooth and WiFi are concerned, it's not a limitation. It was a feature that was added. Using the WiFi button in the Control Center allows you to disconnect from a particular WiFi network without turning off WiFi. It can be very helpful if you're in range of a weak WiFi network or a WiFi network that is not connected to the internet. As WiFi is used for other things (location services, for example), there are good reasons for not wanting to turn it off entirely. This option was added after many requests.

No, I don’t talk to Siri that much. Just like with most things in my life, I don’t ask anyone (or anything) to do something for me that I can’t do myself. 😉

You're still asking your phone to do things. You're just using the touch interface rather than the voice interface. Seems like a distinction without a difference to me but, whatever works for you.

There are equally good reasons for disabling WiFi entirely, such as inside certain parts of a hospital, and it ought to be up to the user to decide. It should not be necessary to visit Settings to accomplish this simple feat. Were your supposition true, it would not be possible to disable WiFi from the Settings menu.

As for assistance with location, that is rubbish. Only trackers use WiFi for location, and I keep them well and truly blocked. My GPS/GLONASS receiver is the only location source worthwhile because it is wholly within my control. What situations make you believe that leaving bits of WiFi engaged when the user wants them shut down is a good thing?

I'm not making a "supposition". That's why the feature works that way. So that you can disconnect from a network without disabling WiFi. I get you don't like the way the feature works.

You are mistaken. Phones use both assisted GPS and WiFi positioning systems to supplement the satellite positioning system. They do this because satellite systems don't work well in a lot of situations in which we use phones.
