Hi, I bought an iPhone 13 pro and Apple kindly gave me 3 months Apple TV to try. When I went to cast it to my TV I found out my TV doesn't support airplay. My question is why doesn't Apple support mirror sharing when it has third party apps who can do it? There's obviously no problem for Apple to do it.

If you were to develop a protocol Mikecast, then not everyone else will adopt that automatically. Same thing here. They’re different protocols, and manufacturers can decide for themselves what to support.
Select apps may included multiple protocols, but that is for that app only. It is not system-wide available.
