No currency symbol is visible in Format number of Excel for iOS

Question

Problem:

open Excel for iOS
put a number in any cell, e.g. 27,45
go to Home->Format number
Click on Currency info symbol
A panel shows negative numbers, Choose Symbol, More Symbols
If I click on a negative number I return to Format number but currency is not set
If I click on Choose symbol I see an empty panel with no symbol
If I click on More Symbol I see a list but all items are empty; however, if I click on an empty item a random symbol is set and Currency is set too for that cell

Any idea why I see no currency symbol at all?
