Monitor refresh rate changes by itself

Every time my computer is restarted, falls asleep, or my monitor restarts it switches to a variable refresh rate. That causes flickering and there is no way to save the desired setting. It seems insane that I can't save it and have it be the same. I have no way to turn off Freesync or anything that controls monitor refresh rate in my monitor settings.

Mac mini, macOS 11.2

What monitor exactly...

what cable exactly...

for your third party—

if in doubt search the developers website or contact their: Support/Help/FAQ/Known issues/compatibility/Updates

see if this is it:

https://www.amd.com/en/technologies/free-sync

Freesync

Operating system: Windows, Linux, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S (?)

Stable release: FreeSync 2.0 / 3 January 2017; 5 years ago (?)

Compatibility:

For FreeSync to work, you need a compatible AMD graphics card or an integrated APU,

like AMD's recent Ryzen-branded all-in-one chips. Most modern Radeon

cards — from budget offerings up to the super-powerful Radeon VII —

support FreeSync.

Acer KG27, Yojock DisplayPort to lightning connector.

No idea if FreeSync is the problem. From other posts that came up frequently. In the monitor’s settings there is nothing that can turn off any variable refresh rate.

Regardless of any of this as stuff why can’t you save settings in your computers settings. It’s insane that you can’t save your settings. Insane and a poor development choice.

This is not solved. I realize Apple is a poor company and can't afford to do support themselves. Thank god we have random other users who can guess at the answer. Apple, your company has grown worse and more exploitative over the years. Thinking of making a change away from Apple. You continually make your apps and products worse, less compatible, and more expensive.

And they were useless. Told me to consult third party manuals. The manual is 27 pages long. The first 19 pages of that are blank, contain tables of content, safety info, legal info, and list of parts. The next 7 pages list the settings and the final page lists "Troubleshooting" which has three conditions all to do with not getting a picture at all or having the Settings display being stuck on the screen. None of the settings in the monitor have anything to do with freesync, adaptive refresh, refresh rate, etc. There is one that deals with communication between computer and monitor and turning that off or on doesn't change the automatic refresh behavior. I've tried changing it and restarting and changing it and not restarting. Same behavior always. This is an Accessibility issue. Apple you need to change this now. Most other settings you need to enter a password to change and this changes on it's own and you can't stop it. It's insane. Apple... seriously. You've taken functionality out of your apps and made terrible design decisions.
