iTunes on external hard disc.

To free up space on internal hard disc can I use external HD for iTunes, what is step by step procedure please? Thanks

If your library is in the standard layout of an iTunes folder containing an iTunes Media folder which in turn contains all media attached to the library, then you can move or copy the iTunes folder to the external drive, hold down option as you launch iTunes, click choose library, then browse to an open the library file at <External>/iTunes/iTunes Library.itl. If you copied the iTunes folder you can delete the original once you're happy the library works correctly from the new location. In either case it is recommended to make a backup copy on a different drive before you get started.
