I just got a new ipad air, but I have noticed that my ipad 's battery drains even if I don't use it. I have fully charged it twice and ket it in sleep mode with lowest brightness, but the next day when I try to switch it on, I get a message saying that it has low charge and needs to be plugged in. I think there is some defect in the device. Is there any way I can get a replacement? It's brand new and I just received it on 07-13-2022.

iPad Air, iPadOS 15

I would not expect a new iPad to drain to low charge warning if sitting overnight. That level of idle discharge for a new device seems very excessive to me.

If you purchased from Apple in the USA , you have a 14 day unconditional return period which you can use for a full refund or exchange. Other stores, or Apple in other countries may have different policies for returns.

You also have a one year limited warranty so can also get it checked out under warranty.

Before you do anything though, go to settings, general, background app refresh and check if you have left some App open and allowed to run in the background all night. Things like navigation or map apps, if allowed to continue running in the background (and using location services at the same time), could easily deplete a battery overnight.
