'enter passcode for other iphone' which doesn't have a passcode

Hi

I've just received a iPhone 12 mini, which is replacing the iPhone 7 that I've used for years. Having done an iTunes backup of my old iPhone, I used iTunes to restore that backup to my new iPhone, which worked great. I see all of my apps, books etc.

But I also see a red badge on Setting which, when I select it, I see "Update Apple ID Settings'. When I click Continue, I see "Enter Passcode for Other iPhone". My other iPhone did not have a passcode, so what do I enter here? I do NOT want to use the option to Reset Encrypted Data.

Thanks

iPhone 13 Mini

Hello tl1956,

At one time it sounds as if your iPhone 7 had a passcode. This would have been required for a few settings (wallet, messages in iCloud, etc...). If you can guess it, you can try a couple -- otherwise the only option is to Reset Encrypted Data. It's also entirely possible that you're using the wrong AppleID login. If you have a couple, perhaps one had encrypted data and another one did not.

You should still be able to retain images/contacts/notes, but messages (if you were using iCloud to backup messages, that is) may be lost.

You can navigate to icloud.com using another device to see what type of data is present. It might give you a little peace of mind.

Of course, you can always reach out to Apple Support too. This is a user helping user Community Forum.
