Hearing aid apps & wired earphones

Upgraded from original iPhone SE to iPhone SE3 and tried hearing aid apps using bluetooth earphones. DISASTER!

The bluetooth connection makes hearing aid apps worthless, because the delay introduced by bluetooth is in the hundreds of milliseconds range.

Would LOVE to go back to wired earphones, but the SE3 doesn't have a mini phone jack. I see there are lightning dongles for using the 4 connector earphones, and earphones with a lightning plug.

Does the lightning connection also introduce an audio delay?
