Forgot MacBook Pro log in password

It’s not that I forgot my password to log into my MacBook Pro it is I must have made a typo. I have tried to reset the password by restarting and using my Apple ID but it keeps saying apple cannot reached so I am assuming it is also not connecting to the internet. How do I fix this. It’s brand new and now I can’t use it because if ridiculous security measures that I don’t need.
