I am unable to install a particular app on my macbook pro - does anyone have advice as to why that might be?

Was trying to open whatsapp on desktop

Had to delete and re-install app, and allow "Rosetta" to be installed (even though I don't know what that is)

I'm working off a MBP 2021, OS: Monterey 12.5

message I was getting prior to delete/re-install was "unable to complete download" and then it would abort app

what is the model year of the MBP?

what is your current macOS?

which app are you trying to install?

and are you getting any error messages when trying to install the app?
