Having intermittent connectivity issues with IMAP and SMTP connections when using Apple Mail and Express VPN. Other email programs on Mac such as Canary work just fine.
Some locations on the vpn don't work well others work fine. Turning it on or off doesn't completely fix the problem either. Is there a security setting in Mail that blocks certain Vpn locations? Or could it be the mail server and Apple Mail?

Your post has some conflicting statements. You mention that you have intermittent connectivity with email send/receive protocols when using the Apple Mail app while in a Express VPN tunnel. You then state that disabling the VPN does not completely resolve this issue.
Is this issue will all of the email proviers that you have configured in the Mail app or just specific ones? Regardless, when using Canary, you are not experiencing these same issues with any of these same providers ... correct?
When you do experience issues with Apple Mail with Express VPN, which locations are you having issues with ... and where are you located (country) when creating the tunnel?
