Problem Connections to the server “imap.gmail.com” on the default ports timed out. and

Hello there,

So yesterday (2023.04.12) just out of nowhere my mac mail app dismissed all my gmail and icloud mail accounts, giving the triagnle notice: Connections to the server “imap.gmail.com” on the default ports timed out. for gmail accounts and for icloud account:

"Mail was unable to connect to server “p45-imap.mail.me.com” using SSL on the default ports. Verify that this server supports SSL and that your account settings are correct."


I can connect to gmail webmail, also other mail service i'm using works on the mac Mail without any issues.

My iphone connects to via mail app to these accounts without any issues as well.

Did everything described in 2019 post without any luck: "Connections to the server “imap.gmail.co… - Apple Community

Deleted and added single account, verified with gmail web, but now its offline and does not download messages.

Any support with this issue? MacOS Monterey 12.5

Good work thus far but perhaps updating Monterey 12.5 to the current version Monterey 12.6.5 could be a contributing factors ?


Usually a good idea to keep the computer up to date and bring several Bug and Security updates that may or may not solve this issue

Google Services are out of my depth as I do not use them.


Personal choice


Then have a few suggestions ;


1 - Get Support Choose a product and we’ll find you the best solution.Start now and open an Apple Support Ticket as they are Apple Employees to deal will these types of issues . 


2 - Product Feedback - Apple and make it known to Apple regarding this ongoing issue

Ok, fair enaugh, thank you. However, just updated to Monterey 12.6.5, still the same problem with gmail and icloud mail connection in mail app. Windows computer, connected to the same internet access, does not have any issues with mail.


Its also weird that when i go to Mail preferences -> accounts -> Gmail account - Server Settings, the outgoing mail account is selected to None, for all of my gmail accounts. And there are no gmail settings listed.


When insert the google account smtp configuration manually and select it, it says Offline


And when i check again the tick box at Use TLS/SLL is deselected.


Any ideas or possible solutions?
