Trackpad keeps selecting everything!

Recently my trackpad seems to keep selecting everything when I roam around the screen with my mouse. Its been doing it for the past week, and I can't figure out how to stop it.

I dual boot Windows 7 and Mac OS X (10.6.4) and this problem is not occurring in Windows, only in Mac.

Any suggestions???

ARRRGH! Same thing is happening to me also.

I updated my MacBook 13.3 today, and the problem started. My trackpad keeps selecting everything on the screen, drawing selection boxes when I don't want them.

Extremely annoying, Apple! Don't think I'll update next time you suggest it for fear that your "update" will screw me up royal.

The same happened to me. I thought it was just me when my brother back in Spain told me that theirs was also doing it, so I figured it must be a bug rather than the trackpad being broken.

I found a solution pretty easy that fixes it (obviously just for some time) but I haven't had it that often since I started doing it. When this happens, move your arrow to the dock and with two fingers click (so secondary clicking) on any app icon and just select one of the options from the menu that pops up (i click on "hide" coz it doesn't do anything special) and boom, fixed.

Hope it'll help somebody!

@josannier: Unfortunately, unchecking the "One Finger" options for TrackPad under System Preferences does NOT guarantee the problem will go away. On my 15" MacBook Pro (aluminum case) purchased November 2008 I had all "One Finger" TrackPad options unchecked under System Preferences and the problem still occurred.

Per discussion in other threads I have since unchecked ALL TrackPad options as well as gone under Universal Accessibility and set it to ignore built-in TrackPad when there's an external mouse attached. We'll see if that helps.

Trackpad keeps selecting everything!
