Making MS Word App default for .docx files on iPad Files app

Hi. I am on an iPad Pro 5th gen and work a lot with the Files app. For text docs I use the Microsoft Word app. Up until now, whenever I would open one of my folders in the “Files” app and press on a .docx document, it would open in Word automatically. Suddenly, however, something changed and it opens in Pages.

How can I get it to default back to Word. I have reviewed previous conversations, tried the control+i solution but I get this (see attached pic). Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hey there, GREENSPAD3!

Thank you for posting in Apple Support Communities.

Just to confirm, is the file saved in the OneDrive folder or in another folder? Does this happen with all files or just this one? If it is in a different folder, try moving it back to OneDrive and try to open there.

Also, are you able to open the file from Word directly? If so, try opening the file directly from Word. Once you have opened it in Word, close it and try to open it from Files again.

Kindest regards.
