when I go into settings/general/about where it says camera it says unknown part but I have never had my phone fixed for anything so why it’s giving me this message I don’t understand.

It can also give that kind of message if the part has failed.

First try a Forced restart Force restart iPhone – Apple Support (UK)

If no better you should arrange a repair iPhone Repair - Official Apple Support

Or

 Contact - Official Apple Support

Anything other than Screen or Battery may be a replacement phone and the price is in the article under "Other damage"
