I have seen this suggested elsewhere. I have tried this to the point of boredom and not found it to have succeeded

Why not list what you have done... or we play a endless game of whack-0-mole...

did you try from the Terminal.app copy and paste:

sudo fdesetup remove -user Guest

Just r=tried the sudo command above:

Error: Unable to remove user 'Guest' (-69594: User could not be found.).

OK, apart from that, just multiple enable disable, sometimes locking the padlock, other times not bothering.

Yes I am seeing the same error with the command line...

Just for fun did you try logging into your admin using—SafeBoot How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support will sort many anomalies

and try from your >System Preferences>User&Groups> to uncheck the Guest user and compare your results

This gets interesting.

  1. rebooted into safe mode
  2. >System Preferences>User&Groups> to uncheck the Guest user: Results, identical
  3. Shut computer down
  4. Restarted, normal mode, and click the now enabled guest user
  5. NOTE: this is the first time I have seen the new guest user mode. Mac rebooted(!) into guest mode, Safari only. Yuck. Not what I expected at all
  6. Instructions suggested I could log guest user out. No. Had to restart
  7. Back in my regular admin user mode after restart
  8. Tried switching to Guest user. Password still required
  9. Can restart into Guest mode, no password required, but cannot switch into Guest User mode without a password.
  10. Am wondering if this is because I am in FileVault mode. I want to be in FileVault mode. Sys prefs says I am, and I set it up this way.

Over to you guys!
