How can I use a iMac monitor for display with my MacBook without the iMac keyboard

I have a iMac monitor and a MacBook, I connected using a thunder cable however it says o need to press command +F2 on the iMac keyboard which I don’t have. Any other options?

First, if you mean you have an iMac not a Monitor, make sure your iMac and MacBook meet the specs for Target Display Mode. Read the link at the top of this page.


If they do, you have to get a USB keyboard for the iMac, it doesn't have to be an Apple keyboard.
