Watch to iphone

My daughter has an Apple Watch with her own phone number. I would like to now get her a phone. I’m sorry if this is dumb but how will that work? Same phone number for both devices? It’s not like the watch can hotspot the phone right?

upgrading my daughters Apple Watch to a new iphone Our 11 year old currently has cellular service on her AppleWatch and has memorized that "phone number" (she currently does not have a separate iPhone). We want to get her a new iPhone, but she wants to keep that same number. Do we have to get a "separate line" and request the number be transferred? Or is it considered an upgrade to the existing line? We have AT&T and I'll be calling them later, but was hoping to get it solved before then since it's a surprise. Thank you!

Apple Watch family setup phone calls If I get a cellular Apple Watch and have it setup through a family member’s iPhone phone, will I have a separate number for the watch, so that it can be called directly without ringing the setup iPhone?

If your daughters watch is a family sharing watch then remove the watch from family sharing and pair the watch with her new phone as normal.
