On an iPad Pro, all Notes under Gmail are blank. In Settings, everything is perfect. How do we get the Gmail Notes back? “Notes App has a long History of losing Notes” was found online.
We discovered that in Notes - Gmail, if you click on each Gmail Note, it displays a blank screen.
Click on the Send icon (box with an arrow in it) in the upper right corner of the screen.. In the drop down list you’ll see, click on Mark Up. Then you will see the colored pencils covering part of the note. Click on Send again.
Then you will see your full Note.
To move the note to icloud notes, hit Send and then click the yellow Note option on the drop down menu.
Then you will see the note title with the option to save to icloud…Press Save.
Then it goes back to the previous screen with colored pencils. Press Done.
Now press Save File To in upper left drop down menu.
Next screen displays choices…press Save on my iCloud.
Now you’re done.
This only works if you have an iCloud Folder.
Who knows what causes this problem. It was happening before and after the latest Update.
So…never set up any notes in a Gmail Folder. Just put them in the iCloud Folder.

Log into gmail online and verify that your notes are still extant in your account.
Sorry, but in the Gmail account, it only contains emails. And in the list of choices, it only contains Inbox, Drafts, Spam, Trash etc. And typing in “Notes” in the top left search box yields only emails with the word “Notes” in them.
