Shared Photo Album picture limit of 5000 photos - can this be raised?

I currently have a shared album that has reached the 5000 photo limit and would like to increase the maximum allowed. Why is this limitation here & can it be raised? It seems like an arbitrary limitation & could easily be changed by Apple.

My Shared Album is not ‘shared’ with more than 2 people and it contains photos of my child & family from birth up to present day. I’m often adding favorite photos to the album as time passes and the number of photos is only expected to get larger. This ongoing “Life Album” of our family is a cherished and living digital photo display of our family’s story. This album is mainly used as a screensaver/party-saver on an AppleTV.

All photos are hosted on Apple’s iCloud and file size is default for the iphone camera. This Shared Album is more than 10+ years old and was started back in the days of the first iPhone model. We currently use the latest iPhone model.

Currently, with 5000 photos in the Shared Album, AppleTV displays the images & loads the images without error or problems. We use the shifting tiles option & do not experience latency or problems at all. In fact, it works great & we love the feature.

Again, the 5000 number seems to be arbitrarily chosen and it seems like an easy fix for Apple to change the limit upwards. Realistically, I would guess this issue only affects a small number of Apple users and would not increase iCloud storage needs worldwide.
