How do I connect Macbook pro to external monitor?

I need help making my Macbook pro work with external monitor.

I connected my Macbook Pro to a Samsung U*J59 monitor using a usb-c to HDMI cable.

In System Preferences/Displays, I see a display called U52J59x. I specified the mirror option.

External monitor has power light, but display stays dark.

??? What else is needed?

Unable to connect my MacBook Air M2 to external monitor through USB-C docking station I am not able to mirror or extend my display with an external monitor (through a docking station). The external monitor & the docking station is non-apple. Note that it is working perfectly fine with other non-apple laptops. Also note that my M2 laptop is able to recognize that an external monitor is connected, I am just not able to extend the screen/mirror the screen (the external monitor remains black). How can I proceed?

Problem fixed: I turned the monitor off and then back on...
