iPad OS 15 Calendar search only goes back one year

Was using the search function in Calendar and it wasn’t finding things I knew, and confirmed, were in the calendar. After some experimentation it seems that if the calendar entry is over one year old then Search will not return it in the search results. On a repeating entry, the initial entry has to be within one year back even if the repeats fall within one year.

How do I get the Calendar Search function to search ALL calendar items regardless of their date?
