Here we are in Aug 2022 - 18 months after the first report - and it is still not fixed.

What is going on Apple Support?

From reading questions on this topic in the community this has been going on since Big Sur, although I did not experience it until upgrading to Monterey. This has been going on for years and at least 3 major releases of MacOS. The only response I saw that provided a solution that worked was to fine a 'No Name' entry at the end of the list of contacts and edit one to enter and save your information. My question: Is Apple and its development team embarrassed to deploy software that performed this way?

Unable to create a new contact in Big Sur 11.5.2 When I try to create a new contact in Contacts, the entry screen disappears after the first word to be replaced by a random existing card. There is no trace of the new card I started. This is a new MacbookAir with the new chip and OS. There was a similar question string earlier in the year, with apparently no satisfactory answer.

My new M1 based iMac - can't load new Contacts called Apple and got no fix I attempted to create a new contact in Contacts. After entering the first and last name, the app closed the new entry window. This occurred three times. I quit the Contacts app, and launched it again. I tried again to create a new contact and the same issue happened. It just lists new contact. I rebooted but the issue persists. I attempted to run Disk Utility First Aid and that did nothing. Called Apple and they had me restart with SHIFT down, that didn't work either. Went to Recovery and reloaded the OS X MONTEREY and it still has the problem. It is not a Gmail account. What is going on with the new M1 chips? I've had other issues with Finder becoming unresponsive, and things not working right? Hardware issue?. About to bring this back to Apple and ask for a new one.

From the above wording, it appears the USer maybe think Apple Support is here, which it is now.

Add people and companies to Contacts on Mac - Apple Support describes a number of methods of adding new Contacts.

If you are experiencing difficulties, please describe them.

It would also help if you described the issue. It's possible that, once people know the specifics of your problem, they may have some suggestions.

Suspect, guessing, the issue is that the user has Contacts associated with Third Party Source like Google
