Hello, Ron Laser.
As with all unexpected iPhone behavior, try taking the following steps which may help with this: restart your iPhone, close the affected apps that use the reader, then reopen it and make sure all apps are updated.
Also, please let us know which apps specifically you are attempting to use? Apple Pay, Apple Wallet, or something else? Let us know if this doesn't settle your issue. Thanks and have a fabulous day!
Ron Laser,
If you've found other iOS devices read the NFC card as expected and you've updated your device and restarted, it may be best to get in touch with Apple directly. You can reach out using this link: Apple Support
Cheers.
Hey there Ron Laser,
Taking a look at Technologies - Human Interface Guidelines - Design - Apple Developer
"Near-field communication (NFC) enables devices within a few centimeters of each other to exchange information wirelessly.
To scan a tag, an iOS device must simply be within close proximity of the tag. It doesn't need to actually touch the tag."
You would only need to hold your iPhone near the NFC card to be prompted to scan. There may also be an app available in the App Store to enable you to scan this card.
Have a good one!
I did all that before posting here. I'm trying to tap a nfc business card and it's not reading it. The card works on other people's phones but not mine.
I don't think the issue is whether I hold the NFC card near or touching the iPhone. It should work either way but it's not working.
