2021 12.9 inch iPad Pro 18w charger gets hot when charging my ipad. Will Apple replace it? The ipad is only a month old.

It is not at all unusual for your Power Adapter and/or iPad to become warm, or very warm, when charging and being used. This is entirely normal - and is not necessarily an indication of a fault.


An inescapable property of electronics is that heat is generated when being used. For the most part, natural airflow and ventilation will keep their working temperatures within their respective design limits. As electronic devices become smaller and more compact, the same amount of heat is being generated and ultimately dissipated in a smaller area.


While your iPad and Power Adapter may be become very warm, neither should become too hot to touch. If you have any concerns, you would be well advised to visit the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP) - where the technicians will be able to assess and test your Power Adapter, iPad and cable(s):
