Downloading Apps on Apple Watch - Family Setup

I got my kids Apple Watches so they could text and call without social media or a camera. They would like to listen to music on their runs. The only music service that they can successfully download is Apple Music. Some of the other services require a phone, and thus are not available. Amazon Music, for example, should be available. I press the "Get" button for the app in the App Store on the watch and enter the password. The "Get" button turns into a swirly circle for a while, then reverts to "Get." The process can be repeated infinitely - no error messages anywhere. There are no parental controls that I can see preventing the download. There is internet connectivity. I would greatly appreciate assistance!

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities! If you unable to get apps on the Apple Watch, the first steps we'd recommend is checking that your are connected to the to the internet. The steps can be found in the article below:

About Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and cellular on your Apple Watch

"Touch and hold the bottom of the screen.
Wait for Control Center to show, then swipe up.
Tap the Wi-Fi icon . The icon dims and your device disconnects from any network that you're connected to."

To further troubleshoot, test the behavior after restarting the Apple Watch and checking for an update to watchOS:

"If your Apple Watch has watchOS 6 or later, you can install subsequent updates without your iPhone:

Make sure that your watch is connected to Wi-Fi.
On your watch, open the Settings app.
Tap General > Software Update.
Tap Install if a software update is available, then follow the onscreen instructions."
